Thank you for participating in this economic research study that tracks where our money goes on Cape Cod.

The purpose of this study is to track how many times a dollar turns over in the community. An easy way to visualize this would be to make believe that your company painted part of the money they made last year. As we track where they spent the money; i.e.with vendors, suppliers and personnel, we can see who has paint on their fingers. Each place/person that has paint on their fingers is another turn of money.

Overall, it ’s important to note that this research is not interested in how much money is spent, but only in where it is spent.

We d like to tell you that all information is kept confidential. The purpose of this research is to determine how sustainable the economy is in Barnstable County. We are not interested in specific dollar amounts or company data. The information will be reported in aggregate form only, unless your company chooses to find out their own multiplier “score ”.

It ’s easy to participate!

There are forms on-line that will take your information. Before you go to the web site to enter the information, it may be a good idea to review your expenses last year, and where you spent your money. We are most interested in determining where you spent your money and whether where you spent your money is a local business.

Definition of local business: A local business is a business whose owner resides on Cape Cod.Therefore, if you have a mortgage or loan payments you made to a bank, unless the bank is Seamen s Bank in Provincetown, Cape Cod Five, or Cape Cod Co-Operative, your payment would be made at a bank that is not local. So if you have a mortgage with Rockland Trust or Fleet, that amount would be entered in the non-local column and you would enter nothing in the local column. You would also enter the name of the banking institution in the far right column.

It's important on the form to let us know if you live on-Cape or not. It's also important for you to tell us the major place(s)you spend your money in each category. For example, if you indicate that you spent $1,000 in entertainment, $300.non local and $700 local, then you would list the local places you spent your money:i.e.umbrella book store, Star City Grill, Cape Playhouse, etc.

Please choose the form that is appropriate for you.
